Marriott McDowell Mountain Resort – Scottsdale, AZ

This is a great hotel! We stayed here four nights last September. This is an all-suite hotel and our suite and bath were spotlessly clean and the beds were very comfortable.

On-site amenities include a heated outdoor pool, hot tub and a fitness center. There is also excellent on-site dining in the Zambra Grille and Agave Bar. The hotel is only minutes from Downtown and Old Town. The hotel also has spectacular desert mountain views.

We would definitely stay here again!

LaQuinta Inn – New Orleans, LA

This LaQuinta is a high-rise located on Camp Street in downtown New Orleans. It’s a very nice hotel located just minutes from the Louisiana Superdome, Morial Convention Center, the Port of New Orleans and the French Quarter.

It’s way cheaper than the hotels on Bourbon or Canal Street and only 2 blocks away from the action! Our room was very clean and comfortable. They had very affordable prices comparing to big name hotels. The only down-side is the parking prices. I would stay here again.

Oliver House Hotel – New Orleans, LA

The Oliver House Hotel is a great, quirky little hotel in the French Quarter with a small pool and a courtyard filled with banana trees and tropical plants.

The hotel is clean, and has lots of character. All the rooms are different. For about 140 dollars a night I had a tiny suite overlooking the courtyard. It was very cute. I would recommend it if you’re planning a trip to New Orleans.

Courtyard by Marriott – Baton Rouge, LA

This courtyard location, on Acadian Thruway, is one of our favorite stops. The weekend rates are very reasonable, the service is top-notch, and the rooms are well-maintained and well-appointed. There is a nice pool which my grandchildren enjoy, and a nice hot tub.

There’s free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel and easy access to the latest news, weather and airport conditions via their “GoBoard” in the lobby. Right off the lobby is The Bistro Restaurant. The hotel is located near a number of Baton Rouge attractions and is also near several good restaurants.

I would highly recommend staying at this Courtyard.

Extended Stay Deluxe – Jacksonville, FL

Sometimes we take our time heading back north to New England from the Keys… this time we decided to spend a day or two in the Jacksonville area and decided to make this hotel our home base.

Extended Stay Deluxe has nice, apartment-type hotel rooms with separate kitchen that includes a full-size refrigerator, stove and microwave. Our studio had a clean, nicely appointed interior, although a little worn. This Extended Stay is located just off I-95 (Butler Boulevard) within a group of newer hotels that included a Red Roof Inn, a Wingate Inn, a Jameson Inn, a LaQuinta, and a Courtyard.

This and surrounding hotel properties appears to be planned development, which is nice. The area is extremely quiet but still a short drive to restaurants and shopping. There is a Cracker Barrel restaurant as well as several fast food restaurants within walking distance. It makes for a great place to come back to after a day of visiting area attractions. I recommend it.
