Marriott McDowell Mountain Resort – Scottsdale, AZ

This is a great hotel! We stayed here four nights last September. This is an all-suite hotel and our suite and bath were spotlessly clean and the beds were very comfortable.

On-site amenities include a heated outdoor pool, hot tub and a fitness center. There is also excellent on-site dining in the Zambra Grille and Agave Bar. The hotel is only minutes from Downtown and Old Town. The hotel also has spectacular desert mountain views.

We would definitely stay here again!

Residence Inn at Fossil Creek – Fort Worth, TX

My thoughts on the Residence Inn at Fossil Creek…

Good points:
Your rate includes a free breakfast.
They have a nice, clean pool and hot tub.
There are a lot of good restaurants within one mile.
Suites have a kitchen with dishwasher if you want to cook.
There is a gas grill available for use.

Bad points:
My room was not so clean.
There was mildew in the bath tub and on the shower curtain.
They didn’t vacuum behind furniture
The General Manager didn’t return my phone calls very promptly.

I wouldn’t stay there again.

Travelodge Grand Canyon – Flaggstaff, AZ

I spent one night at the Flagstaff  University/Grand Canyon Travelodge, after making a reservation online. The website promised clean, spacious rooms and two spas with a sauna. Unfortunately, the reality was far different than what was portrayed at the Travelodge website. Our room was dingy and shabby, bathroom looked like it hadn’t really been cleaned in ages, and the water in the spa looked so bad that we weren’t about to get in. If I’d been able to find any other accomodations that weekend, I certainly would have, but the Flagstaff tourist season is very busy and there was no other lodging available.

The rates at Travelodge were no more reasonable than other hotels and motels in the area. So if you’re traveling to Flagstaff, I recommend not staying at this Travelodge!!

Harbor House – Galveston, TX

If you are a beach bum, The Harbor House is not for you. This is a charming little 42 room inn located on the Port of Galveston in the Strand District, quite a distance from the waterfront.

This lovely hotel features nautical inspired guest rooms, and every room has a wonderful view of Galveston Bay. The staff was friendly, entertaining and made us feel at home. The room was very comfortable, with beautiful wooden ceiling,  nice colors and artwork on the walls. Our bed was very comfortable, the bathroom was clean, and the view of Galveston Harbor was really cool.

A complementary continental breakfast is served daily. The shops and restaurants of the Strand are within walking distance, as are the ports for cruise-boarding. We would stay here again if we were returning to Galveston.
