America’s Best Value Inn – Fredericksburg, VA

This America’s Best value Inn is located just off I-95 Exit 130 in a highly commercialized area. The motel is an older one but in pretty good shape. The rooms are comfortable and clean. Plank Road is a very busy highway with shopping and restaurants on both sides and the Ramada is located on the south side of the road. I don’t recommend that you try to cross it to walk to a restaurant. There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance on the Best value Inn side.

Directly in back of the motel is the Spotsylvania Mall, just another way to blow an hour or two after you check in. Fredericksburg is a city rich in early American history. If you get the chance, drive into town and check out some of the historic area. You may just find that you’ll schedule a longer stay on your next trip through the area.

Considering what you get for the money, I would rate the Fredericksburg Best Value Inn a 6 on a scale of 1-10.

Hampton Inn – Stony Creek, VA

What a refreshing surprise at the Hampton Inn Stony Creek! Lavishly designed yet competitively priced. The hotel is located right off exit (I think #33) in a small town called Stony Creek.

All rooms come standard with micro/fridge coffee maker iron and ironing board, complimentary in-room movie channel and HBO. There’s high-speed internet access in every room and wireless internet access in the hotel lobby. There’s also coffee and tea in the lobby 24 hours a day and USA Today copies Monday-Friday. The Free hot breakfast was awesome and the staff were great.

There’s a great Italian restaurant nearby and the cleanest hotel I have stayed at in ages. This is definitely a must stay at.

New York

Seven Dwarfs Motel – Lake George, NY

Although very inexpensive, you get what you pay for.

The rooms and furnishings here are very dated. There is no in-room telephone service. The bathrooms are in need of repair and mildew removal. The “Breakfast” was a box of donuts from the grocery and were gone by 8 am. The maid service left something to be desired. On the upside, there is free wi-fi, the outdoor pool was nice and the employees were friendly and helpful.

If you are looking for a place to sleep and don’t have a great deal of money – this will be fine.

New Jersey

Days Inn Suites – Wildwood, NJ

We stayed at this Days Inn last August. Check in and check out was quick and easy. The desk staff was courteous and very helpful.

Rooms (allsuites) were very clean and neat. The pots, pans, dishes, and utensils were clean and usable, although we brought along our own disposable dishes and utensils. Maid service did a good job and was pleasant. The outdoor pool is very small though. Continental breakfast is offered, (coffee, tea, juices, danishes, cold cereals, and cup of soups.

This hotel is in a great location, right across the street from the boardwalk and the Convention Center. Sitting on the balcony and looking over at the ocean at night was so quiet and peaceful.

I look forward to repeating this experience again next year!

New York

Comfort Inn at the Pointe – Niagara Falls, NY

Comfort Inn at the Pointe is in an excellent location close to the falls (you can actually hear the falls from your window), the bridge to Canada and the state park. The hotel was very clean and the prices are not bad.

They only have a complementary “full American breakfast” that was not too bad. My only criticism… tours that are booked in the lobby are expensive. You’re better off going to visitor’s center which is across the street within the state park where you can get a Master Pass to major attractions or better yet pay individually as some attractions you can skip (ie. aquarium, discovery center).

Rooms were clean and comfortable and the service was good. Room prices were about average for hotels in the area. We would stay here again.
