Marriott Riverfront – Savannah, GA

This Marriott has a gracious staff… from housekeeping to front desk. The view from our riverfront balcony was awesome, seeing 7 – 8 story ships pass within a few yards was fun. Breakfast at “Riveredge”, the hotel restaurant, was great, with omlettes cooked to order in front of you, as well as Belgian waffles. The room was comfy, with a bit of elbow room at the two-part desk, a nice touch for those of us with laptops.

The hotel is convenient to riverwalk, but the water taxi does NOT go to the Marriott dock any longer. Make other arrangements or be prepared to walk to the next dock. Parking as a guest was $10 a day, and phone calls are a buck. *sigh*

Other that that, we had a great stay and recommend the Marriott Riverfront to everyone.

Fairfield Inn and Suites – Savannah, GA

This Fairfield Inn is a keeper. The rooms were nice, older but well maintained. The beds were comfortable. The management and staff were polite and made us feel welcomed. The surrounding area had a lot of dining options. It’s a well lit, safe feeling area.

This hotel is a perfect stop for 1st night (NJ to Orlando) leaving only a 1/2 day drive next day. In my opinion, this hotel is well worth the extra hour or so drive through the usual SC stops.
