CircusCircus – Las Vegas, NV

In my opinion, CircusCircus is one of the best hotels in Las Vegas. It is right on the Strip, near the Sahara Hotel, which also is near walking distance to Ceasers Palace.

CircusCircus is so huge, that they have busses and a monorail that takes you from one part of the hotel to the other. The hotel and Adventure Dome Theme Park is considered the world’s largest permanent circus and only Theme Park in Las Vegas. The Adventure Dome is a 5 acre elevated theme located indoors. The permanent circus has a world honored circus acts performing throughout the day.

The hotel has over 3700 rooms. Amenities include Free in-room wireless high-speed Internet service, two (2) premium rides at The Adventuredome, free chips and salsa at The Garden Grill valid for one visit, two (2) free Midway games, two (2) free drinks at West Casino or Slots A Fun bar (or a $5 credit toward other beverage purchase), two (2) Fitness Room passes valid one day only for up to two (2) people, free local and 800 number calls up to 30 minutes and miscellaneous retail, restaurant and gaming coupons (over $150 value).

If you go, I suggest that you go to the CircusCircus buffet. They have the largest serving plates in the world! I would also recommend that you try out the Pink Pony Cafe, which is a good place to relax. Also, if you did bring your RV, CircusCircus has its very own campground!

Ramada Inn and Suites Gas Lamp District – San Diego, CA

The statement ” you get what you pay for” was certainly true of this hotel. The price was great, but that’s about it.

We stayed there for one week and the desk staff was not overly friendly for most of our stay. The rooms were clean, but very small and cramped. Our double bed had bottom sheets that did not cover the entire mattress and we arrived back to our room one evening to find our door unlocked (apparently carelessly left unlocked by the cleaning lady.) This was a big no-no. Luckily we had not left any valuables in our room and nothing was missing but nevertheless, not a plus when giving out a rating for this hotel. The bathroom again was small and lacked any towel bars or places to hang clothing, etc. No handles or stability bar in the tub for elderly people either.

Again, if you’re looking for an inexpensive place to stay, the location is good, but this hotel is definitely no frills!
