In an area where lodging can be quite expensive, Towneplace Suites was reasonably priced and well worth the stay. This suite hotel is actually located in Williston, about 1 mile off of I-89, exit 12 and about 7 miles from downtown Burlington.

Check in was quick and the desk attendant was very friendly and accommodating. Plenty of parking too. All accommodations offer complimentary high speed wifi. They have a nice selection of cable TV channels. Studios, One and two bedroom suites are available. We stayed in a two beedroom suite that was clean and comfortable… especially sleeping! The beds were excellent, with plenty of down-filled pillows and an extremely comfortable mattress… and very quite at night (no road noise).

We stayed at Clarion Hotel Cavendish Pointe this past weekend… the hotel is actually located in Cavendish, about 4 miles south of Ludlow, Vermont. This is a fairly nice hotel, but a little overpriced.

We reserved a nonsmoking room and also asked for a connecting room as our friends were staying here also. We arrived quite late, checked in and went to our room. When we entered the room it was obvious this was a smoking room… it stunk! Maybe we were mistaken, so we checked the room information on the door. Yes indeed, this was suppose to be a nonsmoking room. Strike One.

We knocked on the connecting door to greet our friends, but no answer. The next morning we discovered they did indeed check in, but they were given a room located down the other end of the motel. Strike Two.

I have spent the last 3 months in this Hotel. It is fairly clean, relatively comfortable, and reasonably priced. However, if you are looking for excellent guest service, this is NOT the hotel for you. The staff is almost non-existent. Usually there is only one person on duty and since they cannot leave the front desk, they are limited on what they can do to help guests. Most of the staff is relatively friendly, but if unusual issues or problems arise they show little concern and take NO action to remedy the situation.

Likewise, there is little or no management oversight. Management is only on premises for a few hours during the day. If you have a problem checking in at 10pm on Friday night, don?t bother asking for the manager, there isn?t one available. Even if you track down the Manager, you will only get a lot of excuses and very little action.

Days Inn nothing special, but it’s clean, comfortable and resonably priced. It’s right across the street from St. Michael’s College. We stayed there on "Parent’s Weekend". Check out downtown Burlington, about 3 miles away. It’s great!

The Trapp Lodge is a great place to stay! They offer excellent cross country skiing on the property in winter, and great hiking and walking trails in summer. Pleasant entertainment, nice rooms. Breakfast is extremely overpriced, though ($15?/ea).
